Martyn Thompson Rugs

martyn thompson rug collection launches

We profiled Martyn, 56 — his storied photography career and developing parallel career as fabric designer — a couple of years ago here. Pushing forward, he just launched a rather amazing collection of Tibetan knotted rugs in partnership with luxury textile brand Perennials. We happen to believe that Martyn is a genius of color, light and shadow. He comes from the school of image making that says vision counts, and an MT photo is always recognizable as such. The same holds true for his fabrics and rugs: they are clearly his work and no one else’s. You can see them in person here.

The take away here is that we have learned a variety of skills and discernment in our time, and that we can utilize these in myriad ways. Mostly, it is a question of giving ourselves the permission to expand the realms we think we can best perform in. If you haven’t already, sign up for his inspirational newsletter — it’s gorgeous.
