New Eargo 5 Review: The Joy of Hearing Crystal Clear

Hearing is essential; not only does it bring joy and delight to our lives, it is critical to longevity.   1. This review is right on. I have been using hearing aids for a couple of years and recently bought the Eargo 5. They are absolutely amazing. The Sound Match made the adjustments to compensate for the moderate hearing loss in my left ear and the mild hearing loss in my right ear.

    The Eargo 5 app is a real game changer. It gives me the ability to customize my Eargo 5 based on where I am or what I am doing. I can adjust them for a noisy restaurant or to be able to clearly hear the dialogue on the television. I can also change the program so that I can talk on the phone without getting any feedback, even when the phone is against my ear.

    Lastly, the Eargo 5 is extremely comfortable. I often forget that I have them in my ears.

    In short, the Eargo 5s have made a real difference in the way I live and hear.

  2. Is this sound match automatic, or do you have to do something?
    I currently have Eargo and another in the canal hearing aid. I use my Eargo aide while playing golf. Less wind noise. But I seem to hear better with the others during every day activity. I think the reason is because I constantly have to push my Eargo aide in while playing golf. I have tried every fob sent. The ones that stay in best, make me feel like I am in a barrel.
    I love the chargeable case, size, etc. of the Eargo aide, but just can’t get them to stay in my ear.

  3. I only wish Eargo had an App to download to my PC. I do not have any kind of Smart-Phones. By doing so it could possibly open up to more customers. I have Eargos, just wish I could adjust them. I will be looking to some other form of hearing aids ( sad to say ) that are not as comfortale. How hard can a PC App be for such an advanced hearing aid company. There will be PC’s in the future I hope.

While the Eargo app is a wonderful tool available to Neo, Neo HiFi, and Eargo 5 users, the app is not necessary to use Eargos, as your devices do come pre-programmed with 4 different sound profiles. The app is available on iPhones, Androids, and can be accessible on other devices such as iPads and smart computers. For what we want to do with the Eargo app, it cannot be used on a normal PC.   4. My EARGOS SUCK. They never worked from day one. They sent me a replacement and told me I mustn’t have been cleaning them properly. The left one doesn’t work at all (2nd one) and the right stays charged for maybe two hours before it becomes an earplug. What a waste of money, and I still have another year of monthly payments left

  5. I have been an Eargo customer for many years. 1st I bought the Eargo’s. Then I upgraded to the Eargo NEO HiFi which was quite an improvement. Now you have the Eargo 5 which costs almost another $3,000. Do you offer a trade in allowance for my Eargo NEO’s? What’s next, Eargo i12.

      We cannot announce the release of a new Eargo system before it is announced to the public, but we are of course always working on improving our devices and utilizing latest technology as it comes out. This being said, there is no word of a new release of a different system anytime soon.

  6. I love my eargo’s I do forget I have then in almost took a shower with them on, I have had them for almost a month now and have the app on my phone.

  7. Why don’t I seem to get more than a few months out of my present Eargos. The don’t seem to last very long. I understand there is a warranty of 2 year but none of mine have lasted more than 6 months and have had to replace multiple times. Now after my two years I have to pay another fee. It seems obsolescence is built in to keep you paying. I could understand if you get more than a year with them but I have been no where close as I don’t always wear them on days when I won’t be around other people. Are the 5’s improved to last lonoger

      I can confirm that the Eargo 5 system has new cleaning tools and steps. For example, we’ve eliminated the need for replacing the wax guard by creating what we call “petals”, which is essentially a flexi tip and wax guard in one. In addition, the microphone caps on the Eargo 5 are different which can allow for the aids to be more easily maintained.

  9. My eargo lasted just over 2 months. I called support over 20 times and no one called me back. Here is what I learned. If you call for support and hit 1, automated voice directs you to wait for an operator. After several minutes, it says to hit one and they will call you back. I received no call back the first day. Day 2, I hit #2 to get pricing and set up a sale. I complained about no call back. He said the call back could take 72 hours….no mention of this until now. say 3, I hit #3 if you are a federal employee. Again a person picked up right away but couldn’t help me. As of today, I purchased a different set that seem to work as well and they pick up when I tested the service number.
