Keto Farms- Discount on our favorite Keto Products.

Keto Farms. This is our discovery of the week, introduced to us by one of the community. As you know, we are huge believers in a low glycemic diet for a whole range of health reasons, and keto is exactly that: low glycemic load. We’ve tried all their products — the matcha, the keto coffee, and the keto snacks — and it’s all great. Excellent quality, great customer support, nice guys.

They have generously offered 10% to AGEIST readers. Use AGEIST as the promo code.

The diet’s ability to promote dramatic weight loss appears behind this sudden explosion of interest. Scroll through Instagram or Reddit and you’ll be inundated with “keto transformations” –before-and-after pictures documenting rapid weight loss – 10, 20, 100 pounds or more – often in just months.

And with obesity and chronic illnesses like diabetes on the rise, this is great news. But there’s another side to keto that isn’t getting near the attention it deserves: Keto’s power over the mind

The ketogenic diet is a very low-carb, high-fat diet, but does not have to be animal intensive.

While the ketogenic diet is at times associated with meat consumption, it is far from a meat-forward diet. The diet looks to replace carbohydrates with fat and many have found success with a predominantly vegetarian or vegan approach through wholesome foods like coconuts, avocados, nuts, seeds and the like. Additionally, the ketogenic diet is commonly associated with less caloric intake overall, and as a result lowers strain on the modern food and agricultural systems.

By restricting carbohydrates, your body becomes efficient at burning fat for fuel – both dietary fat and stored fat on your body. This fuel comes from ketones produced in the liver, which replace glucose as your body’s primary fuel source.

This state, called ketosis, is perfectly natural. We owe our survival to it in fact. Ketosis allowed our ancestors to run off stored body fat during times of food scarcity (fasting is the fastest route to ketosis). We may live in a world of food abundance today, but our ancestors faced a very different reality.

The ketogenic diet was first used in the 1920s by doctors as a natural and effective prescription to treat pediatric epilepsy. The inspiration came from fasting, which showed a remarkable ability to treat epilepsy when even the strongest drugs failed. By creating a diet that mimicked the physiological effects of fasting (i.e. the ketogenic diet), the doctors could deliver sustainable results to patients.

Keto’s modern revival has revealed more therapeutic uses that anyone ever thought possible. You can find cases of obesity, Type 2 diabetes, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s – even cancer – all successfully treated (alongside standard of care) by the ketogenic diet.

We feel that diet needs and preferences are very much a personal choice, and it is for each of us to find what works best for our own unique needs. When we put forward foods and practices we like, these are things that work for us, and may be entirely unsuitable for others. Our philosophy at AGEIST is that our readers, like yourself, are highly discerning highly informed people, and that our job is only to present options that people may not be aware of.

Let us know what you think. If you feel like sample what keto is about, we recommend Keto Farms-the cleanest most thoughtful keto out there.
