Frequent Flyer Point Tips: 5 Crazy Best Business Class Seats in the World

The best Business Class seats in the world rival First Class and are accessible with your frequent flyer points.

Back in the day, there were only two classes of service when flying: First or Economy. Towards the end of the 1970s, a Business Class product emerged across the airline industry and its seats have evolved into a product that can be synonymous with First Class for many unbeknownst travelers. Since true First Class cabins are being retired by several airlines, let’s have a look at the best Business Class seats you can fly around the world.

Book a “Suite” on These Airlines

Don’t let the name fool you. Many people will simply refer to these seats as First Class even though they are technically considered Business Class by the airlines. And since some of these carriers don’t actually sell true First Class on long-haul routes, these seats are actually the top product on certain carriers. The good news is that you’ll only need to pay the Business Class rate for these “Suites” in the sky.

ANA First Class

All Nippon Airways “The Room”

ANA launched its new First and Business Class cabins in late 2019. The Business Class seat is named “The Room” for good reason. It’s a fully enclosed suite that many consider wide enough to fit two people. Of course, the cabin crew might frown upon sharing seats on the plane, so it might be best to just use the extra space for yourself.

The seats are laid out in an alternating 1-2-1 configuration and “The Room” is exclusively available on ANA’s Boeing 777 fleet, with the existing 777-300ERs getting a retrofit and the incoming 777-9X being fitted with this cabin from the factory.

Where Can You Fly ANA’s “The Room”?

Look for these seats on routes from New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, to ANA’s hub airports in Tokyo. Beyond Tokyo, ANA has connections to several other parts of Asia, such as Singapore, Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh, and Jakarta, though the flights within Asia will be in a standard Business Class cabin.

British Airways Club Suites

Back in 1998, British Airways was the first airline to introduce lie-flat seats in Business Class. The Club World seat was revolutionary at the time, but eventually became uncompetitive. In 2019, the airline introduced its new Club Suite when it took delivery of its first Airbus A350-1000.

Although the Club Suite isn’t as spacious as British Airways’ First Class seat, it may offer more privacy with its fully enclosed doors and more room for storage. British Airways is currently retrofitting its entire long-haul fleet with the new Club Suite, so you’ll find this product on more routes by the mid 2020s.

British Airways operates its Airbus A350-1000 and Boeing 787-10 aircraft with these suites across its network in the US and Canada. Look for Club Suites on flights between London and Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Newark, Philadelphia, Seattle, and Toronto.

Beyond London, the Club Suites are currently available to certain destinations in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East, and we hope to see this product expand across its worldwide network in the future.

In 2017, Delta unveiled its Delta One Suites when it took in its new Airbus A350. The suite has since been installed in the airline’s Airbus A330 and Boeing 767 fleets. These suites differ slightly between the different aircraft. The best suites with fully closing doors are available on the A350, while the Boeing 767 is slightly less spacious and features a privacy screen rather than closing doors.

For the most privacy, pick one of the rear-facing window suites. And if you want to be social with your travel companions, the center suites can be converted to a 4-person suite.

Virgin Atlantic Upper Class Suite

Richard Branson’s airline is a favorite for those looking to fly in style in a modern environment. The Upper Class suites were introduced with its Airbus A350-1000 in 2019 and they provide a comfortable (and fun) flight across the Atlantic.

Although the doors don’t close all the way, the social experience onboard is thought to be the unique factor with Virgin. With a bar and lounge at the rear of the aircraft, you’ll be able to sip a drink in comfort and socialize a bit while you make your way across the pond. You may even make a new friend along the way.
